Can Do Woofaroo, and Some Very Good Dogs!

Earlier this month, I had the chance to attend Can Do Woofaroo at Can Do Canines here in New Hope. Naturally, my dogs got to come along too.

Woofaroo is Can Do Canines’ annual fundraising walk and family event, with dogs pretty much everywhere, which is hard to beat.

It was also a good reminder of the really incredible work happening right here in our community.

Can Do Canines is based in New Hope and is the largest provider of assistance dogs in Minnesota. They have matched more than 1,000 people with specially trained dogs, and the dogs are provided to clients free of charge.

Their programs include dogs trained to assist people with mobility challenges, hearing loss, seizure disorders, Type 1 diabetes with hypoglycemia unawareness, and children with autism, along with facility dogs.

The things these dogs learn to do are pretty amazing, from opening doors and retrieving items to alerting someone to low blood sugar or getting an emergency phone during a seizure.

It was a fun morning and a great opportunity to appreciate an organization doing some remarkable work right here in New Hope!
